How does HY-638 cure?
HY-638 is a moisture-curing acetoxy silicone sealant. When exposed to humidity in the air, it reacts and cures from the surface inward. During curing, it releases a vinegar-like odor, which is characteristic of acetoxy silicone systems.
On which substrates should HY-638 not be used?
HY-638 is not recommended for use on:
- Masonry
- Cementitious surfaces
- Metals such as zinc, brass, copper, and lead It is also not suitable for certain specialized architectural joint applications.
Can HY-638 be used in areas exposed to water?
HY-638 is not recommended for total or continuous water immersion. It should also not be applied to wet, damp, or frosted surfaces, as these conditions can negatively affect adhesion and curing.
